Our independent Investment Advisory Committee meets three times a year. Its key function is to review the fund’s holdings and ensure that they meet with both the spirit and the letter of the fund’s sustainability criteria. If a holding is deemed inappropriate, the Committee can recommend that holding be sold. The committee also provides us with intelligence and a discussion forum on strategic developments in our themes.
Kingsmill Bond, External Adviser
Kingsmill is a New Energy Strategist at Carbon Tracker. His role is to analyse and communicate to investors the dramatic implications of the transition away from fossil fuels for companies and markets. Before joining Carbon Tracker, Kingsmill worked as a sell-side equity analyst and strategist for twenty years at Deutsche Bank and Citibank in London, Hong Kong and Moscow. He has written on emerging markets and global themes including the changing fortunes of oil and gas companies.
Alice Chapple, External Adviser
Alice Chapple is a Director at Impact Value which she established in 2012 to provide advice to companies and investors on how to deliver meaningful impact beyond financial returns. Before Impact Value, Alice was Director of Sustainable Financial Markets at Forum for the Future and has also worked at UK development finance institution CDC as a financial analyst, fund manager and social and environmental advisor. Alice’s current roles include Chair of Investor Watch (which seeks to align capital markets with a sustainable future through Carbon Tracker and Planet Tracker), Independent Director of the Schroders BSC Social Impact Trust, Trustee of the Shell Foundation, and member of the Advisory Boards of Frontier Finance Solutions and Connected Asset Management. Alice has also developed a sustainable finance course for the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership
Ray Dhirani, External Adviser
RayDhirani leads the sustainable finance team at WWF-UK, where he has spent the last eight years. At WWF, Ray’s focus has been mainly on sustainable investment and metrics, spatial finance, policy and regulatory work on climate and environment, as well as wider change in the finance and economic system. Before joining WWF, Ray spent eight years working in the markets division of Merrill Lynch in New York within foreign exchange and fixed income sales and trading.
Carole Ferguson, External Adviser
Carole Ferguson is Managing Director at Industry Tracker where she leads a team undertaking research to help investors navigate climate change-related challenges. Previously she was Head of Investment Research at CDP. Before joining CDP, Carole worked on both the buy and sell side as an analyst and fund manager. At Société Générale Asset Management, she developed the firm’s responsible investment strategy and research capabilities. Carole has also worked as a resources, mining and utility analyst.
Jayne Sutcliffe, Non-Executive Chair
Jayne brings nearly 35 years of leadership and business experience in the investment management industry to the team. Having first co-founded Regent Pacific Group in the early 90’s, Jayne later founded Charlemagne Capital. Over more than 16 years as Chief Executive, Jayne grew the firm from an initial £20m to become a market leading investment boutique with over £7bn of assets under management (AUM). She managed the firm through significant growth, different market cycles and a range of corporate events. Whilst at Charlemagne Jayne was also heavily involved in the integration of environmental, social and governance analysis into the investment process, and was an early advocate for ESG in emerging markets investment.
